After I caught up with the talented Fashion PR assistant for Comme des Garçons over dinner in Chelsea tonight, I was reminded about the most exciting collaboration of the year with Hermès. I, for one, stopped immediately after I heard the word Hermès, what a major collab! And I thought to myself – this is so exciting, can’t wait to get my hands on those silky signature scarves that comes in the oh-so perfect orange boxes.
Only 200 limited edition scarves are made. Ever. Rei Kawakubo designed two collections, one colour and one black and white and the collection is named Comme de Carrés. The “Couleur” will be available at the Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo and the “Noir et Blanc” collection will hit the stores in CDG stores in Tokyo, NYC and Paris this Thursday. These will range typically from around $500 to $2000 price range.
What an exciting, fun, quirky collab with the traditional high-end luxury fashion house. This is definitely a whirlwind of change at the top of the chain in the luxury industry. I am sure we will see a lot more mishmash of traditions x avant garde.
